How We Work
These speech therapists are teaching patients to swallow again.
This team in Wilmington plays a critical role in helping patients regain one of the body’s most essential reflexes.
Sarah Hyde Foster, a speech-language pathologist at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, works to help patients who are having trouble swallowing to safely eat and drink again. She and her team work 365 days a year to assess patient risk, guide treatment and help prevent atrophy before swallowing problems become life threatening.
